It’s better if you don’t understand; just listen and have a good time. That’s the response Abby Cubey will give you with a smile when asked to describe her sound and music. She would much rather sing, perform, and write her songs than talk about them. It might seem that Cubey appeared out of nowhere at the House of Blues, after co-writing, producing and performing her song “Believe In Me” followed by Dame Mas Electricidad (produced by Paul Drago) followed by the chart-climbing “Somebody Turn The Electric On”. She makes one thing clear: “It’s not an overnight success”.

Cubey is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and musician who feels most at home when she’s performing. Born on December 14 1986 and to love and live with music .Mother was a politician back when I was 11 and I was asked to be in the stage ” I remember singing a Celine Dion song and that was it. Ever since that moment, I’ve been addicted.”

Rich in diverse music from all over the globe, Cebu was an exciting hometown for the budding singer/songwriter. On one end of the spectrum, her home was filled with the 1950s classics that were her mother’s passion. Meanwhile, the city is rich in traditional sounds, including reggae, rock and folk music, as well as the latest pop hits. “Cebu is basically one of the best city in the country, so you’re exposed to every type of music over there,” explains Cubey.

Cubey moved to beautiful place in Leonardtown , Maryland for some reasons and she is not satisfied and she left her comfort zone for Los Angeles with dreams of launching her career as a performer. Those dreams got put on hold for her business career in Los Angeles, however, when Cubey and JOJOKID MUSIC, the songwriting/production team founded with Paul Drago and 3 Guys from Jersey suddenly took off. The pair has crafted hits for a diverse roster of talent, including the song that she wrote ” Believe in ME , Dame mas Electricidad , Devil Dressed in Lace and Somebody Turn the Electric on “, which is the theme song for the upcoming Movie .

Cubey describes her time behind the scenes as important to her development as an artist. “I realized that you have to go into this industry as an artist with a clear vision and understanding of who you are. Being so young when I was first signed, I never really had a sense of who I wanted to be. Now things are really working out because everything that I’m singing, writing and composing is really me.”

On the heels of “Believe In ME” and “Dame Mas Electricidad” and as a preview of what’s to come from Abby Cubey, Dragon B Record and 3 Guys From Jersey is releasing a 2-song EP aptly titled “Man Up “. The song is all about making a man to know how important a women’s point of view and make them feel special “; one of the songs included that features Lost Theory titled Somebody Turn The Electric On. The song depicts the musician’s current routine. “It’s basically a story of the lifestyle of party and the life you end up living as an artist “.

When asked to describe the music she’s about to release Cubey says “it’s hard to put myself in a box. I just write songs that I strongly believe in and that are coming from inside. There are no tricks. It’s honesty with big melodies. And I’m going to be singing songs that are written from various real-life experiences, where Cubey blends her buoyant voice with purposefully simple production.

Although she is incredibly proud of the recordings, Cubey feels the best way to experience the sound is to see her perform live. “That is what I’m most excited for – taking these songs and traveling them around the world.” The only place she would rather be than in the recording studio, is with her back up dancers on stage – where she smiling and sharing her love to her fans. “I think people are really going to gravitate towards the live show. We turn it into a party.”

Her message to her fans: Thank you for your support and i will be here for more, and know that all of us are special on our own way. Love you all.
