HER STORY
In her early years, Daniela’s musical study came from years of training in classical piano. She later continued her education at “The Crane School of Music” where she studied voice with world renowned teacher “Patricia Misslin”. After her first experience at the “Newport Jazz Festival” she heard “Ella Fitzgerald” and everything changed. Ella’s voice and spirit changed her course, says Daniela. That course being jazz. She began to frequent and eventually sing in clubs in Manhattan with some of the best musicians around. She found herself often at “The Jazz Cultural Theater” where “Barry Harris” would listen while musicians performed and then gave his gentle guidance and mentorship. Her on the job training began then and has not stopped.
Many years later, Daniela moved to Los Angeles to continue her career. She quickly found herself featured in and on various performances such as: “The Sinbad Show” “The Arsenio Hall Show” and “The Tonight Show” with “Jay Leno”. With extensive studio experience, she has been the featured voice on commercials such as: Lexus, Blockbuster Video, Timex, Bank of Ohio w/ “James Earl Jones” and many more. In addition, she has also performed live with: “David Lee Roth” / “Patti Austin”/ “Jackson Brown” and “Patrice Rushen”. In February 2013 she performed with “Beck” on his remake of the David Bowie song “Sound and Vision” for the Lincoln campaign “Hello Again”.
Daniela released her first CD “Daniela Sings” in 2009. Not only did she produce the record herself, but most of the songs are her original compositions. Recorded at the renowned “Capitol Records” in Hollywood California with the legendary “Al Schmitt”. Her debut effort proved quiet successful as it was considered for a “Grammy” in the “Best Jazz Vocal Album” Category. It was also nominated by “The Los Angeles Music Awards” in two categories: “Jazz Artist of the Year” and “Single of the Year” for her original composition “Across the Moon”. The CD features some of L.A’s finest jazz musicians: “Joe Porcaro” on drums, “Jim Hughart” on bass, and “John Chiodini” on guitar. She continues to perform with this exquisite trio whenever possible.
