2010 Producers Choice Award – International Hip Hop Artist of the Year – 20th Annual LA Music Awards
Don Blanquito was born in Washington D.C, and grew up in Los Angeles. In the 1990’s he was influenced by hip-hop artists from the West Coast, East Coast, Mid West and South. Blanquito grew up freestyling with his friends but it was not until 2004 that he began recording songs in both English and Spanish. Around that time, he discovered Rio de Janeiro, fell in love and eventually recorded dozens of songs inspired by the local music, culture, and women. In 2008, he moved to Rio for good. He is the first American funk MC, and the only funk MC to sing in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. Don Blanquito continues to create new and unique sounds, which can be heard at his live shows throughout Brazil and the world. His flow is different than any other MC out there.
