Francesca and the Flames

Live Performance

Nominee at the 10th annual LA Music Awards

Focusing on blues-rock, roots rock and southern-style soul, Francesca & the Flames are a gritty outfit that became active on the Los Angeles scene in the 1990s. The band is lead by singer Francesca Capasso, an expressive, passionate belter who is blessed with a big voice and an impressive range. Janis Joplin and Etta James are among the artists who have influenced Capasso, who was born and raised in Texas and lived in Houston and San Antonio before moving to Los Angeles and forming Francesca & the Flames. With a lineup that includes Capasso on lead vocals and tambourine, Doug Monteith on guitar, John Zell on bass, Christopher Pellani on drums, Katja Rieckermann on sax and Marshall Thompson on organ, keyboards and background vocals, the band recorded a promotional CD titled Live at the Galaxy at L.A.’s Galaxy Theater in 1999.
