Born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York 2nd gen Italian/American Gary Private started out as a drummer playing the N.Y. club circuit (Max’s Kansas City, CBGB’s, Coventry) etc; with many NYC bands (Legs Latreau, Dancer, Arrival) continuing on to front his own band. Signing a recording contract as singer/songwriter, G.Pvt. went on to record with Select Records. Soon after a requested performance at Studio 54 (NYC) for Calvin Klein’s birthday party, he was signed by Atlantic Records which then released a remake of the Four Tops song “Reach Out, I’ll Be There.” The next record on Atlantic was Secret Love, which featured original songs written by Private. Following this, (4 albums and 7 singles) Private was featured on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand twice, Playboy’s Girls of Rock-N-Roll, Disney’s Flight of the Navigator, daytime soap “One Life To Live”, TeenBeat magazine, Details Magazine and Billboard Magazine’s Top Album and Single picks. Gary has worked with some of the greatest musicians in the world: T.M.Stevens on bass, David Bowie’s Arno Hecht on sax, Steely Dan’s “Elliott Randall” on guitar, Meatloaf’s Bob Kulick on guitar and probably the greatest all time Rock-N-Roll bass player Kenny “Double A” Aaronson. Also played with in the years leading up to his success great local musicians like: Steve Restaino on guitar, Gus Sasso on drums, The amazing Elliott Glenn on every instrument imaginable, and Richard Younger backing vocals. Produced by Steve Tyrell w/Barry Mann, David Kitay, Fred Munao and Rick Knowles.

In 1985 he moved to Los Angeles where he resides sometimes working as a Nightclub/Restaurant Manager (8 years lead security for the House of Blues Foundation Room on Sunset Blvd,L.A.; Trained the opening team at the Mandaley Bay Hotel/Casino H.O.B. Foundation Room in Las Vegas (1999); Received Presidential seal/name embossed cuff-links from President Bill Clinton for assisting the Secret Service during his visit to H.O.B.; Co-event coordinator for the House of Blues Fat Rm temporary Sundance Film Festival location in Utah; Managing partner of Hollywood & Vine Diner/Ultra Lounge nightclub L.A.; GM of Platinum Live in Studio City).

In July 2015 left L.A., is now acting and recording back in NYC!
