Glitter Rose (born April 5, 1985) is an American vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. She held residency at the Hard Rock Café Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd. for the event Southern Rock Brunch, which was developed by Hard Rock’s Eileen Mercolino. This event showcased Glitter’s original southern rockin’ sounds and explosive performance, as well as an exclusive southern breakfast menu developed by Chef Leonard Delgado. She is also currently nominated for two awards in the 22nd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards for Country Artist of the Year and Country Single of the Year with “Vodka Girls”. Her new album “Dead or Alive” was released March 20, 2012. Glitter is endorsed by TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik, WARRIOR Guitar, Fishman Acoustic Amplification, BAE Audio, Orange Amps, Moody Leather, and Guitar Hands Hand Care. She has performed consecutively at the NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants) and the Dallas International Guitar Festival, joining the list of almost 3,000 performances. Early life: Rose was born Cassandra Rose Deck in Apple Valley, California on April 5, 1985. She spent much of her early childhood in Southern California’s Mojave Desert. At six years old Rose began dancing in recitals, which lead to her performing in national dance competitions by the age of nine. Rose began singing in the school choir and it was shortly after, at twelve years old, that Rose would begin writing her own music. In order to pursue a career in music, Rose was home schooled from the 7th grade. At age thirteen she moved to Texas with her adopted family, where she was raised by her father Peter Louis. Saying that she “glitter’s like a star,” Louis began to call his youngest daughter Glitter. The nickname would stick and at age 16, the singer would officially start using the stage name Glitter Rose. From childhood, Rose was influenced by 50’s and 60’s rock n’ roll. Her greatest influences include The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Tina Turner, Aerosmith and Counting Crows. It was her discovery of teen songwriting act Hanson which led to her inspiration to write and develop original music. Career: 1997-2001: Early career: Glitter began writing songs in 1997 at age 12, performing them a capella in her hometown at teen and family events. The following year, she began performing live in Dallas, Texas and recorded her first album of original country music which was released under the name Cassie Rose. She toured the Gameworks Video Arcades as well as malls throughout Texas, Nevada and California. Rose then recorded a single titled “Wolf’s Cry” which featured a guitar performance by her friend Ryan Cabrera. After the release of the single, Glitter toured the southwest with her band, ending with a final show at the Dragonfly in Hollywood, CA. In 2000, she appeared as a contestant on the show 2 Hour Tour on Disney Channel and was invited to the Young Star Awards in Hollywood, CA as well as the Billboard Music Video Awards in Las Vegas, NV. 2001-2005: Hollywood High: As Rose grew up so did her music. In 2001 she began writing 80’s and punk inspired rock n’ roll. That same year she officially began going by the name Glitter Rose and formed her own band, Hollywood High. They recorded their first EP “Class of ’69” in early 2001 and started playing the rock music scene in Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas. After filming their first music video titled “Rock n’ Roll Peep Show” that summer, the band was asked to contribute music and performance for the independent film “Best Laid Plan”, including the title track. Hollywood High’s popularity grew quickly, due in large part to the release of their Britney Spears inspired rock hit “Britney Jean”. The track received the recognition of 97.1 The Eagle and became part of the station’s regular rotation. Because of her popularity at 97.1 The Eagle, Glitter began to co-host the Sunday 80’s Rock Show with DJ Robert Miguel. Hollywood High was also a favorite on The Local Show, held every Sunday at TREES, a live music venue in Deep Ellum. As their popularity grew, the band started booking performances in some of Hollywood, California’s most legendary venues, including Whisky a Go Go, The Viper Room, Dragonfly, and The Knitting Factory. In 2002 they recorded the EP “Bred to Shred” with producer Dito Godwin at Westlake Recording Studios in Hollywood, California. The following year, the band recorded their EP “Embrace the Sin” in Dallas, Texas with vocal production done by world renowned vocal coach Linda Septien. In 2004, Hollywood High was voted as one of the Top 100 Unsigned Acts by Music Connection Magazine. The band’s success continued when they were nominated for and won Outstanding New Artist at the 14th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards, prompting them to re-locate to Los Angeles, California. Following the Los Angeles Music Award’s, Hollywood High showcased for several industry professionals. Unfortunately, the industry had different ideas for the band. With the glut of cookie cutter pop stars emerging week after week, Rose was propositioned to take a different direction with her image. Despite the temptation of stardom, Glitter was not interested in being a “pop star”. 2005-present: Solo career: Glitter moved back to her family’s home in Texas in 2005 where she spent time writing new material and improving her guitar skills. Rose began to combine her original country style with her flair for rock n’ roll writing, developing her own unique, outlaw sound. She decided to become a solo act, going simply by Glitter Rose and started performing around Dallas and Fort Worth. She would eventually find a home at the legendary Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, Texas in 2006. She held residency at the famous listening room, as well as created and hosted the monthly event Open Mic at Poor David’s Pub for 5 years. In 2007, she recorded and released the full length album “Southern Comfort” produced by Rodney Bollinger. In 2008, she performed on Good Morning Texas on the ABC Network. Interested in becoming involved in the guitar industry, Rose designed an acoustic/electric guitar called “The Glitter Rose Series” with boutique guitar builder Jon Kammerer. From there, she received her first endorsement with Moody Leather and became a recognized artist at the Dallas International Guitar Festival, as well as the NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants). In 2009, she recorded her single “Doublewide on the Backside” with producer Rob Chiarelli. It was recorded at Pacifique Studios in Hollywood, California and Studio at the PALMS in Las Vegas, Nevada and later performed at both Whisky a GoGo and PALMS Casino Resort. In 2010, Rose retired “The Glitter Rose Series” by Jon Kammerer Guitars and then received her endorsements with WARRIOR Guitar and TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik. She also became a Preferred Artist with C.F. Martin & Co. Acoustic Guitars and Strings. In 2011, Rose was invited to perform at the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California where she received her 4th endorsement with Guitar Hands Hand Care. In September 2011, Rose recorded her 2nd full length album with producer and musician Dran Michael and drummer and engineer John Thomas Price. She co-produced the album and titled it “Dead or Alive”. Set for a Spring 2012 release, Rose moved back to Hollywood, California to promote her new album. She was invited back for her 2nd year to perform at the Winter NAMM Show 2012, this time asked to do two performances at the conference. She also received endorsements with Rotosound Music Strings, BAE Audio, and Fishman Acoustic Amplification. In January 2012, Rose performed in the BAE All Star Band featuring Mark Loughman for an exclusive one time Los Angeles performance. The band line up included Matt Sorum, Chris Chaney, Kenny Aronoff, Billy Morrison, Wes Borland, Rafael Moriera, Billy Duffy and more. In March 2012, Rose began her residency at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd. for their Southern Rock Brunch. “Dead or Alive” officially released on March 20, 2012. Rose did a mini tour back to Dallas, Texas upon the release of her album as a gift to her fans and performed at the 35th Annual Dallas International Guitar Festival.
