Hoang Thuc Linh was born in Pulau Bidong, Malaysia, she came to the United States when she was eighteen months old with her mother and father to the state of Michigan where she grew up for thirteen years. At a very young age, her parents noticed her interest in music and coaxed her into taking piano lessons, an instrument that is now her bread and butter, along with her singing. Linh’s father was in many pick up bands when he was at his prime as a bassist, so like daughter like father, she could not help but to feel an ultimate rush for music.

Linh started to sing for the Vietnamese Community at the age of 9, with a cute song for a little girl to sing, a Vietnamese song called “20-40”. After that, she also took up lessons in violin and joined many musical activities in school such as band and choir while taking private dance and vocal lessons as her expertise grew larger and larger.
Throughout the years, she participated in many events including Veteran’s, charities, and festival events for the Vietnamese Community. “I was hoping to take part at that age to learn more about her own culture by doing what I love most.” said Linh in the proudest manner.

In 2003, she competed in a contest called “Best New Talent” that held in Los Angeles and made it to the 3rd preliminary round. After all the excitement that was held in California, she soon moved to Arizona then in 2004, she competed in the “Que-Huong Radio Golden Voice Contest” and got 2nd place.
With lots of support from her parents, friends, and fans, she recently participated in the Miss Ao Dai Pageant in Arizona (2008) and placed as 1st runner up. “It was a great privilege to work with so many great people and to receive such an honor in representing the Vietnamese community in Arizona.” said Linh after she got off the stage with excitement in her eyes.

She was in a girl group called Tigress, as they performed in many events for the American public and notable was the cooperation with the Sexy Hair Company, where they performed and modeled at the product conventions. Individually, she performs in many shows in and/or out-of-state like Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Mississippi, etc. while being active in many fashion shows as well. On the other hand, Linh had also performed in a Vietnamese band called Ha Trang, a well-known Vietnamese band in Arizona.

In 2009, she won Prom Guides Top Model with a $10,000 scholarship and a modeling contract with Alyce Designs among all the representatives from each high school nationally, in which she got featured on the cover of Prom Guide Magazine.

Currently she is featured on “Van Son 42 in Denver” as her first break-through in the “mainstream” Vietnamese entertainment and now she is touring in Atlanta for Van Son’s next production “43 in Atlanta”.

Linh’s been doing what she does best for 10 years, that includes piano playing and vocal exercises. Her favorite drink is Thai ice tea, and her favorite type of food is any Asian cuisines and the music that she jams out on her Zune are any R&B, Soulful music, and slow jams.

Recently, Linh was chosen as the recipient for “female singer/songwriter of the year 2009″ for the Phoenix Music Awards for independent artists. The PMAs was held with the Los Angeles Music Awards and the Hollywod F.A.M.E. Awards in Hollywood at the Avalon Theater. It was a privilege for Linh to attend this red carpet event in which she was able to share the stage with famous people, some including Ron Nevison who had produced for artists like Led Zeppelin, Heart, Chicago, and many others; Carol Curb of Curb Records; and Fred Coury the drummer of Guns N’ Roses.

Linh’s debut cd “Thien Than Trong Truyen Tranh” was released earlier this year (2011).

Her newest album “Neu Muon Roi Xa” recently released on July 4th!.
