Born and raised in the desert of West Texas, designer John Renaud moved to New York City in 2005 to attend the prestigious Pratt Institute, where he majored in fashion design. He has worked with designer Christian Joy; first as her intern and later her assistant. Under Joy John was given the opportunity to work not only on the Christian Joy line, but on the costumes Joy designed for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Klaxons. Renaud also trained under designer Gary Graham. Upon graduation from Pratt John was awarded top honors including the Alfredo Cabrerra Sportswear award for his thesis collection and the Cotton Inc Eveningwear Award. Surface Magazine also featured Renaud’s collection as one of the top thesis projects for 2009.
