2013 Nominee – Electronica Dance Single of the Year – 23rd Annual LA Music Awards “Falling”

Growing up in a musical family, Lakotah sang integrated harmonies with her father and sisters performing throughout her childhood. By age 7, she had learned how to play the piano, guitar, bass, drums, and by age 10, wrote her first song. Realizing that she had the uncanny ability to play any instrument she fancied, Lakotah picked up the trumpet and became proficient at it, playing in Jazz bands throughout High School.
Having traveled from New York to London to Seattle, Lakotah landed in Los Angeles where she began composing, recording, and producing demo submissions for other musical talent. Lakotah first gained notable recognition with the release of her first solo CD entitled “Shape Shifter”. It was at this time that she caught the eye of Deluxe Records and from there went on to form and front the groups Soul De Sire, Love 11, and later The Deep Happy.
This hugely popular band headlined throughout Los Angeles and the western United States as well as opening up for such artists as Chris Isaac, Wishbone, and Medusa. The Deep Happy released two studio albums: “Activate 11:11” and the self-titled album “The Deep Happy”.
Lakotah’s just released her new EDM/Dance single “I Feel Your Body” co-produced by Mickey Oliver. Her last single “Falling” charted the Top 50 (#43) on the Billboard Dance Chart and is playing throughout Europe, The U.K., Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, and in clubs throughout the U.S. She is also featured in David Longoria’s PBS Special “Baila” which airs nationally. Her forth coming full length CD, “The Maker” is soon to be released on BooBoo Records.
Lakotah’s extensive song catalog which include over 200 compositions that span the genres of Pop, Rock, Dance, Electronica, Adult Contemporary, Classical, Country, and even New Age, has been used in motion pictures and television. She is a prolific songwriter, writes her own music and lyrics, and has skills that include: voice-over, singing, programming/sequencing and producing, and performing.
