Laura is a USA Today best-selling author and award winning singer-songwriter who also fronts a dance band, performs audio book narration, and produces and hosts.

Back in 2008, Laura left her successful legal career behind and rocketed onto the San Diego music scene with her first album, “Girl Like This.” Within weeks of her music debut, however, Laura was devastated to learn she had triple negative breast cancer, an aggressive form of the disease, and immediately underwent treatments. Laura thought her musical dreams, and perhaps her very life, were over. But when Laura’s cancer treatments finally ended in 2009, “Girl Like This” was nominated for Album of the Year, and her song, “Float Away,” won Americana Single the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards in Hollywood, California. Laura launched a tour of the UK to promote “Girl Like This” and her music found a home in multiple major BBC radio markets, landing as high as No. 5 on the Amazon UK charts.

Throughout her cancer treatments, Laura continued to write songs, but with a new sense of purpose and clarity. Throughout 2010, Laura recorded those songs, and she also wrote her first book, a memoir about her musical/life/cancer adventures called Rocking the Pink: Finding Myself on the Other Side of Cancer (Seal Press, 2012).

In early 2011, Laura released her sophomore album, “I’m Still Here,” which contained the songs written during her cancer treatments. The album was produced by Matthew Embree, the frontman and lead guitarist of indie rock sensation, Rx Bandits (who also happens to be Laura’s beloved cousin). When Laura released her new album, she was eager to find out if the world would embrace her new clarity. It wasn’t long before Laura received her answer: Billboard ranked Laura No. 3 on its list of the Top 50 “uncharted” artists in the world (and Laura remained on the chart for twenty-three consecutive weeks). Respected UK music magazine, Maverick Magazine, raved that “I’m Still Here” is a five-star, “must-have” album (February 2011 issue). In May 2014, Laura released her debut novel, Heart Shaped Rock — a story that, while fiction, is close to her heart. And because four characters in the book are singer-songwriters, Laura wrote and produced a soundtrack album, with a lot of help from some very talented friends, including Matthew Embree, Lauren Coleman, Wesley Switzer, Hunter Levy, Jennifer Argenti, Phillip Peterson, Græ, and The Optimist. In January 2015, Laura released a trilogy under a pen name, which became a USA TODAY best-seller within weeks of release. Laura has been quoted as saying that writing the trilogy has been one of the greatest joys of her life, and readers’ reception of the books is a dream come true.

Laura lives happily in San Diego, California with her family and dogs, where she performs her original music and with her dance band, Cool Band Luke, writes books and songs, and watches football like a zealot.
