2013 Honorable Mention – 23rd Annual LA Music Awards

The Leandra Graves Band inspirations range from bluegrass, soft acoustic and opera, all the way to folk-punk, blues, and hymns. It is their goal to find a unique mix of those vibes while projecting specific passions and messages through either hauntingly poetic, or penetratingly straight forward lyrics.

Due to her love of mostly male vocalists, Leandra has a certain grit to her music and voice that is unique in itself. Each of the members of the band are also songwriters based in southern California. With each coming from a different musical and social backgrounds, it adds a creative and personal element to the music that would otherwise have been missed. It’s a crazy unique mix that has to be given a listen! If you are one for some crunchy slide guitar, powerfully passionate vocals, and high energy percussion, this group is definitely one to lend an ear to.

“This is my music, my swag, my ministry, my expression.”

“We are fighting spiritual battles with Scripture and guitars.”

Leandra has been compared to artist such as The Civil Wars, The Cranberries, and Adele.

She has performed for The Whosoevers ministry with her folk inspired band for many of their weekly SHINE Events at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, and recently shared the stage with Lacey Sturm the former lead singer of the band FLYLEAF. Along with this, she has performed independently for “The Female Acoustic Showcase” featuring several award winning female artists from across Southern California. She has also played venues throughout the Inland Empire, Orange County, and LA (including Molly Malone’s, Gypsy Den, Back to the Grind), and regularly plays on the worship team at her home church in Chino California.

Not only does she has extensive background in writing, playing, and recording original music, she also has several years of theatrical experience tucked under her belt. “Since I was young, I had a burning desire to be an entertainer with a message.” She has been featured in multiple independent films and theatrical productions ranging from light hearted comedy’s to Shakespearean dramas.

She has had wonderful press reviews in the March and May editions of the Inland Empire Magazine, Press Enterprise, and IE Weekly, in which the author calls her material and vocals “fresh and engaging”.
