Live Performance

1994 – 4th Annual LA Music Awards

My love of music began at a young age. I would run around the house using a broom to play air guitar with my cousins, pretending we were The Jackson 5.

This eventually led to me wanting to learn to play a “real” instrument. As fate would have it my first choice of playing drums proved to be a little too expensive for my family, while the electric bass guitar was much more affordable… plus my cousins wanted to start a band and they needed a bass player! This was the beginning of my lifelong journey in music.

I’m not the first musician in my family… My great uncle was the legendary Joe “King” Oliver, from New Orleans, who became Louis Armstrong’s musical mentor.

Because of my eclectic taste in music I try to not be limited to any one particular style. From Rock to Jazz to R&B to Hip Hop… It’s all music to me… as long as it’s funky it’s good!

While studying electronic music at Cal State University Dominguez Hills, I had the opportunity to study bass under such greats as Armando Sidon and Miroslav Vitous, and electronic composition under Richard Bunger. Future teachers later included Richard Simon, and Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson.
