2014 Nominee – HOT AC Artist of the Year – 24th Annual LA Music Awards

Hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii with a passion for great sounding music, alternative rock band Red Light Challenge was born and raised on rock and roll, soul, blues, funk, and every other music genre imaginable.

Both talented honors students, the band is made up of two brothers Sean (21) and Kyle (17) who, not only play all the instruments that appear in their songs, but continuously incorporate new styles and sounds in each original song they write.

Formerly named ‘Just Us 2’, Red Light Challenge is full of energy and life during performances. They have performed at many popular hot spots and concert venues both locally in Hawaii and across the United States where they are known to mash-up popular cover songs with their originals, paying homage to great music of the past and leaving a blazing trail for new music today.

During 2010, the band was featured on the hit variety TV show ‘Entertain Me!’ on KHON-TV2, where they headlined and performed two of their songs. The duo also won an award for Best Song Composition (music and lyrics) for their original song at the local “Brown Bags to Stardom” 2010 competition. To celebrate their local successes, Red Light Challenge toured Six Flags in California and many major malls across the USA, rocking fans from Los Angeles to St Louis, Missouri.

In the summer of 2013, Red Light Challenge scheduled an impressive 42-show, 16-state Summer Tour spanning from Colorado to New England and back home to Hawaii, with performances at Pyramid and Simon group malls, as well as Hershey Park, Six Flags New England, KOAs, the Buckeye Lake Festival, and many more.

Performing live shows for a crowd of fans does not faze this young musical pair, whether their performances are for 10 people or 10,000, they always put on an energetic show, with huge-sounding songs. In addition to high profile performances, Red Light Challenge is frequently photographed and interviewed. They are regularly featured in local Honolulu newspapers and news programs KHNL, KGMB and KFVE Hawaii News Now.

Aside from their love for performing, Red Light Challenge is keen to give back to music programs in public schools across the country. They have created a non-profit community-involvement program called “Red Light Challenge, Green Light Go” where the band frequently performs and speaks with students. The brothers are conscientious about the songs they diligently write with their ultimate goal to inspire younger generations in both music and the arts.
