Robert Popa is an award-wining singer/songwriter (BMI), multi-genre music producer (GRAMMY member) and actor (SAG-AFTRA) residing in Redondo Beach, California.

As a musician, Robbie has been nominated for 7 Los Angeles Music Awards, winning 2 “Unanimous Choice Awards”, earned 1 Hollywood Music in Media Award nomination and made the official entry ballot at the 53rd, 54th and 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards; all accomplished as a self-represented independent artist.

As an actor, he’s appeared in several featured motion pictures, network television shows, national commercials and has done international print modeling.

Robert was born in Bucharest, Romania and fled communism with his family as a political refugee at the age of 4 years old. He’s lived in italy, Turkey and Iraq before arriving the the US. He’s been attracted to the arts from a very young age. He studied creative writing and theatre at Center for Creative Youth at Wesleyan University (CCY alumni) and graduated Ithaca College with a degree in International Business and concentration in Finance.

He grew up in Avon, CT and worked in NYC after college, residing in Brooklyn. Eventually, he struck out west to LA to pursue a career in music and acting. To date, his talent for songwriting encompasses several genres of music; having composed upwards of 200 original songs. As an independent artist he created his own record label “Rock n’ Roll Records” to distribute his music. He is currently self-managed and seeking professional talent and booking representation.

As a working actor, Robert has worked in over a hundred productions; film, tv, pilots, commercials, print, international & domestic, internet and new media webisodes. He began his journey as a background artist to gain SAG union membership; “I’ve played many different parts, big and small, from a Greek Plate breaker on Perfect Couples, to a motorcycle gang prospect on Cold Case, to an Israeli shoe salesman on NCIS. I was featured on the CW tv show 90210 in the Battle of the Bands and got a few seconds of screen time as a Gotham police officer in the feature film The Dark Knight Rises. I’ve also stood-in for a dozen different actors to date on projects like Body of Proof, The Mindy Project and Million Dollar Arm”.
