Best Female Guitar 1999 LA Music Awards – No Show
Sharon “Share” Pedersen (now Ross) (born: Sharon June Howe on March 21, 1963 in Glencoe, Minnesota) is the bass player of the reformed female hard rock band, Vixen.
Share joined Vixen in 1987, replacing Pia Maiocco, and remained with the band until 1991. After leaving Vixen, she formed the supergroup, Contraband, releasing only one album. When Vixen reunited in 1997, she had no interest in coming back, as she was playing in her husband’s band, Bubble.
In 1999, Share and her husband Bam Ross co-wrote the songs on Jesse Camp’s debut album, Jesse & The 8th Street Kidz.
Bubble won Song of the Year in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2000 with their song, Sparkle Star. It is also featured in the film starring Daryl Hannah, Dancing at the Blue Iguana.
In 2003, Share toured with her husband Bam’s band, The Dogs D’Amour, and opened up for Alice Cooper on a European Tour.
In 2006, Share became the host and co-producer of the video podcast Rock n Roll TV, an online show which features up-and-coming punk/garage/rock bands and rock news.
In 2012, Share reunited with her former Vixen bandmates, Roxy Petrucci and Janet Gardner, along with Gina Stile to form a new band originally known as “VXN” and now using simply their names as the band name of JanetShareRoxyGina (or JSRG for short). The band began performing shows in late 2012 and went on tour with the Monsters of Rock cruise in 2013. Late in 2013 JRSG changed their name back to Vixen in accordance with the wishes of founding member and guitarist Jan Kuehnemund who was unable to be part of the reformed band due to her battle with cancer and shock passing on 10 October 2013.
After sitting in on bass with the Quireboys during the 2014 Monsters of Rock Cruise (due to the absence of their regular bassist), she was invited to join Joe Elliott’s Down ‘n’ Outz on their December 2014 UK tour.
Motivational Speaker/Trainer
In addition to her musical career, Ross is also a life coach, specialising in confidence-building, with particular reference to self-promotion via video, with her ‘Video Rockstar University’ programme, and a motivational course, “MESH”. Her programmes are predominantly targeted at self-employed businesswomen.
She has also published a book of hip knitting designs, Punk Knits published by Stewart, Tabori and Chang.
Bam and Share Ross started Bubble as a two piece band in 1999. (or thereabouts?!) It began as a way to let off steam as they were both in ‘recovery’ from their old bands, Vixen and The Dogs D’Amour being over and broken up and done. Just guitar and drums and Share rasping out rock vocals… they quickly created a B-U-Z-Z in Hollywood.
In 2000, they had their first official lineup of Brent Muscat and Eric Stacy from Faster Pussycat and they recorded their first full length album – “how ’bout this?”.
As a lark to test out a ‘band credit card’, Bubble entered the John Lennon Songwriting Contest with one song, Sparkle Star. Not only did they win Best Rock Song but Sparkle Star went on to win Song Of The Year!
After touring the UK, Japan and America, they made some changes to the sound and eventually both Brent and Eric left the band for various reasons.
The second album – Total Harmonic Distortion was done in 2002 with Tad Dery on bass and Share handling guitars and Bam pounding on the drums. Another tour of Japan, the UK and Texas and the West Coast happened and more fans were met and loved.
The third and final album for Bubble is Rock n Roll Hell. With Brian Wong taking over on bass, the band dialed in their punk/pop/gritty sound and produced tracks like Deadender and Head Case both of which have been featured in many movies and tv shows.
In between full length cd’s there were ep’s as well. Miss Hellaneous, The Xmas Split EP with Canadian rockers, The Black Halos and a prequel ep to the third album.
The core of Bubble has always been Bam and Share and their unbridled passion of all things dirty and rock n roll along with an unabashed love of the Beatles. Today, Bubble exists in digital download format only as the cd’s have sold out.
