If you ask any songwriter what the first step is to penning a song, they will tell you to write what you know! For 14 year old, Shyanne Wilson, that is exactly what she’s been doing since her very early years. Right away, family and friends recognized that she had the musical gene deeply embedded into her total essence. Her early pre-school teachers used to joke with her parents that anytime Shyanne wandered off from the other children, all they had to do is ask everyone to be quiet and just listen for Shyanne, who inevitably was either off singing by herself or attempting to compose some music on the pre-school instrumental toys.
Shyanne began writing her own songs at the tender age of five, and released her first single at the age of ten called “Get A Life”. That song came out of a year of dealing with bullies at her school that eventually inspired her to write the anti-bully anthem. The song quickly spread to kids, parents and teachers all around the globe and with all the positive feedback, Shyanne realized first hand the power of music. “From that moment on, I knew without a doubt, that this was my life calling.”
In September of 2014 Shyanne released Chapter One, a 5 song EP that showcases her pop/rock style tinged with a hint of hip hop that forms the backdrop to her lyrics. Shyanne is very clear on who she is and what kind of music she wants to make. “I basically want my music to be the soundtrack to people’s lives, “ said Shyanne. “Many of my fans have told me that my songs lift their spirits and encourage them to be themselves, which is just so humbling and inspiring to me!”
Shyanne also is starring in a new docu-reality series called ‘Road to Nashville’ which follows her and four other young artists as they pursue their musical dreams. The series premiered on the AwesomenessTV Network, a Dreamworks subsidiary, Oct. 18th, 2014.
