Michael Smith is a veteran singer, songwriter and performer. His eclectic blend of original music spans folk and Americana to adult alternative, with seasonings of classic rock and country mixed in here and there. While the songs on his self-titled 2006 release The Michael Smith Band are rooted more in country and folk, the music of Smith’s follow-up (to be released later this year) falls somewhere between The Beatles, Dave Matthews, and Yes. Smith is an accomplished guitarist in addition to being a prolific writer and lyricist. His songs are poignant, touching, and made with a sincerity that is a rare find in today’s music world.
