Sierra’s Light Foundation, a local nonprofit group, will hold its

third annual Celebrating Young Talent on Sunday.

The child safety advocacy group was founded by Costa Mesa resident

Cindy Soto in memory of her 4-year-old daughter, Sierra, who died when

Steven Allen Abrams plowed his car into her preschool playground. Brandon

Wiener, 3, was also killed in the May 3, 1999, incident.

Sunday’s event, an annual fund-raiser for the group, will showcase

dance, instrumental and vocal performance by Orange County children. It

will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Robert B. Moore Theatre at Orange

Coast College.

A special presentation will be made to Costa Mesa Mayor Linda Dixon.

She will receive the first Sierra’s Light Twinkle Award for playing a

part in changing the city’s review requirements and conditions of

approval for enhanced safety and security at private schools and

child-care centers.

Other show highlights will include a performance by the Pacific

Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Sleeping Beauty ballet done by students

of the Dance Center, run by Soto.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, $25 for VIP admission and $200

for the Founder’s Circle that includes four founders tickets and an

intermission reception. Information: (949) 251-1470 or (949) 548-3180.
